An Absolute Truth about Christian Faith

The atonement has both salvation and healing aspects within it, essentially stating that salvation and healing took place at virtually the same time. Therefore, if salvation is for today, then healing is as well. Jesus is the healing in the atonement. However, for many, even believers, the healing in the atonement has become secondary. It seems that people are forgetting the basics or at least putting them aside.

In Psalm 103 David describes for us the true character of God.

Psalm 103:2-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction. Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

In these verses we see the Lord pardons, heals, redeems (saves), gives love, kindness and compassion. As if that is not enough, he gives us His Word, food for our mouths, to renew, revive our youth in our wisdom years. All of these things are in the act of the atonement.

In the book Isaiah chapter 53 verses 4-6, the prophet Isaiah confirms David’s psalm reiterating God’s benefits. Healing and salvation are provided in the same action here, as well. Essentially both writers show us that Jesus died on the cross at Calvary so that humanity would never again be required to bear the results of their poor choices and wicked lifestyles. Lifestyles before Christ (BC) and after Christ (AC) prove that humanity left to their own free will make terribly selfish and morally very bad choices.

The truth of the Atonement is that we are forgiven, healed and redeemed of God. The Salvation is provided as is the restoration of our youth. The Atonement tells us that we do not have to be sick any longer. These writers tell us the wonders of God’s desire for our well beings. God removes, through the sacrifice of His Son, all illness and disease. All of the wicked choices that cause harm in our lives. He feeds us, with good things, the information of His love and devotion, satisfying us. He redeems our youth for us. Correct living rejuvenates the body and spirit.

Of all the truths in the bible, and the intent of the tome is to give only the truth. The atonement is, in my view, the culmination of the completed truth. There are sixty six books in the bible that essentially tell us through historical depiction, stories of every genre, poetry and prose the same things. That our creator loves us, that He took measures to insure out survival and inheritance, and finally that He desires, above all our wellbeing and a relationship with his progeny. All of this is depicted in the total and absolute truth of Christianity, the atonement.
