Who I was yesterday…

Yesterday was an epiphany!

God lives on the beach! Seriously!

I went to the Atlantic Ocean with friends from church, somewhere on the Jersey Shore. I have not been to a beach in probably close to fifteen years, and I live at the Jersey Shore. Isn’t that sinful. I remember it being uncomfortably hot, I got sunburn and sand everywhere. I didn’t enjoy myself.

It was not what I remembered. I walked to our spot, and spread the sheet and towel. I then sat down and took a look around. My goodness!! Shimmering golden sands, reflective rippling waters and waves that curled and unfurled themselves in all glory. The expanse of ocean was endless east to west. The ray of light that seperated the ocean from the sky was bright with that star in the center, like a stationary flash. The sun was shinning in the sky, dancing on the skin like the sparkler’s sparks hitting your skin, the breeze taking the sting and ruffling the hair. A perfect beach day, especially to the novice.

My friends and I talked and fellowship and enjoyed watching our children in the surf.  Ages ranging from 12 to 20, each mother rejoiced in the joy each child was having in God’s pool.  My surfer girlfriend gazed at the God’s untouched frontier and stated that it was God’s last untouched resource. I had to agree, blessedly they don’t know what to do with it and thankfully probably never will.

Deciding to brave the surf, I wandered down to the ocean’s edge and let the surf hit my ankles. Brisk and shocking I braved the fast moving waves to the knees. The water while reported at 60°, I apparently had no clue how cold that was while in liquid form. Slowly I wandered into the waves until I took the plunge. My body acclimating to the temperature I floated with the crest and break of each wave, in awe of the wonders.

I know God changed me yesterday. I believe I was meant to be a child of the surf, why else would He have placed me here at the Jersey Shore?

The scent of the salt in the breeze brought to my spirit a familiar sensation. I was brought to a place of praise and prayer. I sensed the Holy Spirit flowing through my being as I prayed in the Spirit to a God who would show me these wonders, and grace me with the gift of experiencing them personally. I felt God say to me softly, your health is here, your healing is here. I believe and receive that.

I am blessed to be able to only work three days a week, in God’s house at that. I will be spending some of that free time at God’s pool this summer!

Yesterday I was awed by God’s gift of the Ocean!

Yesterday I was a child again, experiencing the beach for the very first time.

Yesterday I was in the Spirit…I am today as well.

Blessings
