~ The Serenity Prayer
God,
Grant me the serenity to except the things I cannot change; Courage to change the thing I can; and the Wisdom to know the difference.
If my life is not clear and free of storms or unpleasant change , I am not serene.
Right now my life is not serene. God is peeling away yet another layer of this onion…and once again my tears are close and threatening. Changes are going on in my life that deal with my feelings of superiority.
Wow! my feelings of superiority. That says enough! Obviously a layer that needs to be removed!
Did you ever begin to peel an onion that you’ve had in the basket for a bit? When you cut into it you find that a midlevel layer you find a black mold type dust between the layers? When you peel away the top layers of onion you find that it really has not effected either layer. Oddly it is simply a dusty substance between the bottom layer and the upper layer. This dust can simply be washed away, leaving the onion usable. However, if the dust is left it will infultrate the two layers turning them brown and starting the process of rot…
I hope this is simply the dusty layer, the superiority thing I mean.
I guess in all of my life I chose to elevate the idea of me, instead of taking the self deprecaiting road…I must think on this…
Blessings All.
